Water Quality Reports

Together with Tampa Bay Water, the region’s wholesale water supplier, we routinely monitor for contaminants and provide annual water quality reports to our customers.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires monitoring for more than 80 drinking water contaminants, which are included in annual water quality reports if they are detected. Some of the data in the reports is more than a year old, because the concentrations of some contaminants are not expected to vary significantly from year to year.

We operate 10 community public water systems, and each system has its own report. Use the interactive map below and type your address in the white box to find out which report is for your area.   2. Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR5)

    Hillsborough County Public Utilities is participating in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) fifth round of the Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR5). The County will be monitoring for unregulated contaminants under UCMR 5 in 2023 and 2024.Results will be posted at the link below when they become available.

    The 1996 Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) amendments require that once every five years EPA issue a new list of no more than 30 unregulated contaminants to be monitored by public water systems under the UCMR. Unregulated contaminant monitoring helps the EPA to determine where certain contaminants occur and whether the EPA should consider regulating those contaminants for the protection of public health in the future.

  3. PFAS

    Hillsborough County is committed to providing safe, high-quality drinking water to customers that meets all regulatory standards.

    最近,美国环境Protection Agency (EPA) issued new health advisory levels for a group of man-made chemicals in drinking water called PFAS (Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances). PFAS are a large group of man-made chemicals that have been used in industry and consumer products worldwide since the 1950s.

    Health advisories are not regulations. Instead, the advisories are interim guidance before EPA develops a formal regulation. Because there is uncertainty of the health effects associated with long-term exposure to compounds, EPA sets lower health advisories.

    Preliminary PFAS monitoring

    Hillsborough County has done some preliminary monitoring for PFAS and we are investigating how PFAS chemicals may impact our utility, this includes:

    • Determining the levels of PFAS in our water with additional monitoring
    • Understanding established and emerging treatment options
    • Developing practical and feasible strategies to reduce levels of PFAS as EPA develops and finalizes its future drinking water standards
