CSX routinely conducts railroad crossing maintenance to ensure safe passage for trains, automobiles, bicycles and pedestrians. Maintenance work spans throughout Hillsborough County including railroad crossings within the municipalities. Each crossing regularly takes up to three work days to recondition.
Throughout the year, emergency repair also can happen. There are over 200 railroad crossings across Hillsborough County and about 70 percent of them have “active” infrastructure to stop traffic when a train is approaching.
At this time, there is no known CSX railroad maintenance work being performed in unincorporated Hillsborough County.
