Overview
Interested in learning, seeing, and experiencing your government up close and in action? Hillsborough County Backstage Pass is where it’s at! Through the program you will become a more informed community leader and can share your knowledge with your neighborhoods, communities, friends, and family.
Eligibility
- At least 21 years old
- Work/resident status (must meet ONE of the following three qualifications):
- Resident of Hillsborough County
- Own a business in the county
- Employed full-time in the county
- Commit to attending a minimum of nine sessions
- Must adhere to program rules of conduct and attendance requirements
Fees
Hillsborough County Backstage Pass is free and all course materials are included.
Benefits
- Meet county government leaders
- Learn how to unravel "red tape" and navigate the system for smoother experiences when you need something from the County
- Establish relationships with department directors and staff
- Understand the interactions between departments
- Become familiar with the services the County offers
- Get a behind-the-scenes look at some of the facilities, such as a water treatment plant, Fire Rescue stations, or the Emergency Operations Center (EOC)
Things To Consider
- Hillsborough County Backstage Pass is designed to help develop community leaders through well-informed and civically engaged residents
- You can apply at any time, but you may be placed on an enrollment list for future sessions if the program is full or has already started
- Attendance:
- At one of the orientation sessions is strongly encouraged
- For all sessions is expected
- If you miss more than three sessions you will be dropped from the program
- Missing any part of a session is considered a full absence
- The program adheres to a drug and alcohol free policy during working session hours
- Dress code for Hillsborough County Backstage Pass sessions is business casual, unless otherwise specified
How To
- Fill out and submit theapplicationfor the Hillsborough County Backstage Pass Program including:
- County Commission district number
- Any Hillsborough County Board memberships
- List of any civic, professional, business, social or other organization memberships
- Business Organization
What's Next
- We will contact you with a registration email, including confirmed orientation date
- Program details will be provided at each of the orientation sessions
- If we are unable to schedule you for this session, we will add you to the enrollment list for future sessions
